Bayview has partnered with Seattle-based Eldergrow to bring a mobile sensory garden and indoor therapeutic horticulture program to its residents. The two organizations came together in November to host an event for Bayview residents to begin filling the garden with vibrant flowers and fragrant herbs.
“We are delighted to incorporate Eldergrow’s innovative programming here at Bayview,” said Nancy Weinbeck, Bayview CEO. “Our team is always looking for new and innovative ways to engage our residents. The new garden will give our residents the opportunity to create something with their own hands, giving them a sense of pride as they use the plants they grow for fun activities and culinary programs.”
Bayview is receiving this garden program through a grant gifted to LeadingAge Washington by the State of Washington, placing Eldergrow programs in every one of their skilled nursing facilities. The program includes Eldergrow’s Expert Educators who will be on site monthly to teach and build relationships with the Bayview residents through ongoing enrichment classes including culinary and garden art curriculum.
We so look forward to seeing this program grow over the course of the next few months!
