The Bayview retirement community in Lower Queen Anne has received an honorable mention for Mather LifeWays Institute on Aging’s Promising Practices award.
The award highlights organizations that develop and implement innovative approaches to long-term care and senior living communities.
Bayview was selected for creating a task force of residents, staff and community volunteers to change perceptions about aging with a program called AgeUp. The program included messaging, resident focus groups, transformational aging workshops and a research partnership.
“The Promising Practices Award honors Bayview for creating a program that empowered task force members, offered new perspectives, opened up opportunities for dialogue, and promoted new programs and public awareness,” said Mather LifeWays Institute on Aging assistant vice president Cate O’Brien in a news release. “We hope other aging services organizations around the country are inspired to find innovative paths to change the way their communities view aging.”
Bayview is a 62-plus Life Plan Community that has operated in Queen Anne since 1961.
